CoCo-80 is the first handheld device that is a fully integrated vibration data collector, dynamic signal analyzer and a long waveform data recorder in one system. The Dynamic Signal Analysis (DSA) functions are designed for evaluation of a subject in a wide range of applications including mechanical, electrical, geophysical, networking, telecommunication, hydraulic and any system that exhibits interesting phenomena within the frequency range between zero and 100 kHz. The Vibration Data Collector (VDC) functions are designed for evaluating and monitoring of rotating machinery. It provides a convenient way to collect the vibration data using either route-based collection or onsite measurement and analysis in the field.

The hardware of CoCo-80 can be configured with 2, 4 or 8 input channels. When running in the VDC mode, 1~4 vibration channels can be enabled. The first channel of CoCo-80 can also be configured as tachometer channel to simultaneously measure the rotating speed of a rotor or reciprocating machine while acquiring data.

The CoCo-80 provides two different user interfaces for Dynamic Signal Analyzer and Vibration Data Collector. The style and settings are different to meet industrial conventions. The user has the choice to enter one of the interfaces when system is powered on. The VDC user interface is specifically designed for fast data collection operation and ease of use. A professional user focused on research and development can open and use the DSA functions instead of that of VDC.

The EDM (Engineering Data Management) software is designed for use on MS Windows operating systems (XP, Vista) and is used for data post processing, reporting, data file management and archival, analysis and trending. The user can create, backup, split or merge the route database as the need arises.

EDM software is synchronized with the CoCo-80 device using USB or Ethernet connection. The database in EDM is replicated within the CoCo-80.  After measurements are taken, they are passed back to EDM. Additional measurements made by the user onsite can also be saved to the database along with the route measurements.

The vibration data collector function integrates both route data collection and onsite measurement functions. The onsite measurement function allows the user to go into “off-route” mode. For example, coast down and run up, balancing are all typical onsite measurement functions.

The CoCo-80 is designed to compete in both DSA and VDC markets.  Previously, traditional DSA products could not compete in the VDC market, mainly because these DSA products are too big in size, require too much power, are not portable or are less rugged. Conversely, the traditional VDC products do not compete well in the DSA market due to their lack of channels, precision and accuracy. CoCo-80 is a unique product that handles both markets. When the user conducts regular vibration data collection functions, VDC mode can be selected. If the application requires advanced real-time signal analysis functions, such as long waveform recording, octave analysis or digital filtering, the user can simply switch to the DSA mode. The dual mode design simplifies the VDC user interface.
